A Valentine’s Day star map that is actually about you two

Valentine’s presents are the same for everyone by design: the same roses, the same chocolate, ordered the same week. A star chart is the opposite — it only exists for one date and one place, and the date is the one you pick.

The chart does not have to be of 14 February. The better choice is usually the night you met, the first trip, or the evening that nobody else knows about; the gift is on the 14th, the sky is from whenever it started.

It is a PDF, so there is no shipping deadline to miss: it can be bought on the evening of the 13th and printed at any copy shop in the morning.

Two ways to give it

Printable PDF $4.99

  • A3 star chart, vector PDF
  • Your place, moment and line of text
  • Delivered by email in a minute
PDF only — $4.99
Best for a gift

Gift edition $14.99

  • Everything in the PDF
  • A2 print file at 300 dpi (420 × 594 mm), ready for any print shop
  • A personal dedication printed under the title
Gift edition — $14.99

Printing it at home? There is a second paper: the same sky as ink on white. A full-bleed night A3 bands on a home printer and drinks a cartridge; the ink one does not. Same price, pick either on the next page.

Preview free, one-off payment by card, no account. The place, the moment and the line of text are yours to change on the next page; the example shown here is a real sky over New York on 14 February 2019, 20:00 local time.

The line of text

The line is for the part only the two of you understand: “Brooklyn Bridge, the night of the rain”. Sixty characters, printed small.

Questions people ask

Is it too late to order for Valentine’s Day?

No. The PDF arrives the moment the payment goes through; a print shop turns an A3 print around in minutes, and a home printer on A4 works too.

Should the date be 14 February?

Only if something happened on one. Most people choose the night they met or a trip, and write the Valentine’s message in the line of text instead.

Can I see it before I pay?

Yes: the checkout page draws your own sky as soon as you type the place and time, watermarked but otherwise identical to the PDF.
